Auto Skill and Auto Buy in Smite

Smite, like any other MOBA game, has an Auto Skill system.  With the change of Smite auto buy and the revamped HUD there’s been a lot of discussion about whether or not to turn off autobuy andAuto Skill.  I wanted to take some time today and discuss the pros and cons to each.

Let’s start with the obvious, Auto Skill is a very good option for people who are new to Smite or MOBA games in general.  Auto buy helps you purchase higher level items earlier that you might not be able to reach without assistance from autobuy.  That being said there are some downsides to these features.

how to turn on auto buy smite

I’ve talked to a lot of people about this topic and have had several debates on if turning off these features is okay.  Both are optional so it’s fine to leave them on, but I think its important to be aware of the cons as well as pros for both autobuy and auto skill.

Here are some things you’ll want to consider:

Pros of Auto Skill:

-Helps new players get an idea for how skills work and what they do.  It’s a good option for this since the UI is so different from other MOBAs.  Auto buy helps you purchase items, but it doesn’t actually tell you what they do.  Auto skill does.

-Easier for new players to learn what each god’s abilities do and how they work together if you turn on autobuy as well as auto skill.  It doesn’t really matter if you don’t know english too well since the button will be green or red depending on whether its off cooldown.

-Auto skill is great for people who don’t want to bother with the god screen.  You can just tab your way to victory without having to think too much about what skills and items you’re using.

Cons of Auto Skill:

-It’s useful for new players, but it doesn’t help you learn all that much past that.  You press a button and your character uses his/her skills without you having to do anything.  It doesn’t really teach you how to play Smite.

-If you’re playing on a low end system Auto Skill will likely hurt your game performance every time there is even a bit of lag (Which is fairly common).  This is especially a problem if you have a large number of players on your screen.

-Auto Skill doesn’t change depending on what god you’re playing or the situation.  Sometimes it’s better to use an ability at a very specific time and Auto skill just uses them whenever they become available for no reason at all.

What are Auto Skill and Auto Buy in Smite and how do they work?

Auto buy just helps you purchase items from the shop.  It doesn’t make decisions for you and it only puts the item in your inventory not your build (Its a good way to get things like wards and potions if you don’t know what they do).  Auto buy will always purchase the highest level item you can afford and it starts buying items as soon as the first wave of minions arrives.  You have to re-enable autobuy whenever you return to base or use a potion.

What are the benefits of using Auto Skill and Auto Buy in Smite?

I know a lot of people who turn on Auto Skill and Auto Buy to help them become better at Smite.  Auto buy can be helpful if you’re new to the game or a bit overwhelmed by all the information.  If you pick a character with high damage abilities its easier for your character to snowball out of control.  Auto skill will help him/her do that without wasting any of your own time.  It also helps if you’re playing on a low end system since it takes some stress off the CPU allowing you to get more frames per second.

Conclusion:

Auto Skill and Auto Buy are both good options for new players.  They can be helpful for those who want to improve their Smite game as well, but they will make the transition from a beginning player to an intermediate/advanced player that much harder since you won’t really know how to play without them.
